IRS Warns Against EFIN Deactivation
In a QuickAlert dated 7-24-19, the IRS encourages all Electronic Return Originators (EROs) to double-check that they’ve properly filled out the ‘Firm Information’ page of their e-file application. They also warn that not doing so may result in your EFIN being deactivated.
All Authorized IRS e-file Providers who own or operate a website(s) that collects, transmits, stores or processes taxpayer information are required to register the URL(s) on your e-file Application.
If you answered ‘Yes’ to the question ‘Do you own or operate Web site(s) through which taxpayer information is collected, transmitted, stored or processed?’ on the ‘Firm Information’ page of your e‑file application, you must provide the URL(s) to prevent the IRS from inactivating your EFIN.
For further information see Publication 3112 page 21, “Registration of Web Sites with the IRS”.
